There are probably only hundred people on the earth, who were born with serious body defects, their hands and legs did not fully develop. The Hungarian 22 year old Szabolcs Kollinger from the village of Tahitotfalu, Budapest is one of them.
Szabolcs was born in Dunapataj, where he was left in the hospital, his mum did not want to take care of him. He was shortly put into a child care home. When he was 3 years old, one of the famous women’s magazine called Nok Lapja have run an advert to find the right parents for the abandoned baby boy. “I am pretty sure, there are no coincidences in life. Everything is meant to be” – said Szabolcs. “As far as I know, the article and the advert about me was read many times, there were lots of people trying to adopt me, but the nurse who was taking care of me, denied most of them. There was one lady who also applied, and that was my stepmom. When she applied for the adoption program, she was 48 years old. She already had two kids, she used to sell newspapers as a job. My mum is very similar to me, she has no legs and only one hand. She is the perfect parent for me” – he added. After Magdolna adtopted the three year old boy, Szabolcs began his elementary studies. He went to a school, where all the kids had some sort of body defects, so he did not feel any different from the rest of the pupils. He learnt to write with his partially developed arms and with his mouth. He also knows how to drink without anyone helping him. “I can swim, I can play football, I even play some table tennis with my cousin. Having said that, I can only do some parts of the dressing up part. However, I can put on a shirt or even a pullover” – added Szabolcs. His latest dream is to become somewhat independent, and this is where the bionic arms come into the story. Szabolcs has recently read and article about a British company called Bubonic, that produces bionic arms and other bionic body parts. The only problem is, that one of these arms cos
